Chicago Sleepers Looks to Bring New Life to The Underground Scene

A couple of days ago, Jake Millan and Lil Jaw announced that they will soon be hosting a new podcast, titled Chicago sleepers. This new entity will shed a light on the latest and greatest of the hottest underground rappers in game, in addition to hosting events. This is really comes as no surprise, if you know anything about Jake or Lil Jaw, you know that they are very active on the scene and have helped the careers of many Chicago underground artist.

Jake at a show he hosted at Iridium back in the Winter of 2015.

When I asked Jake about why they chose to pursue Chicago Sleepers, he confidently responded "You look at places like LA and NY and there are artists from all over the country going there for stuff like Sway, No Jumper, The Breakfast Club, etc. What do we have in Chicago? We need something to draw more attention to Chicago. There's too much talent and too little recognition on a national level here right now. We're looking to help change that." He has a point, the podcast game in Chicago doesn't do the best job of covering the artist who are really influencing the scene the most. The important thing to know, is that Chicago's underground scene has plenty of artist that can certainly succeed at the national level but lack the resources // exposure to do so. "Our first podcast will be in early September and we have some very special guests that we will be announcing in a few weeks" Jake told us excitedly. Supporters of the underground scene in Chicago should be excited because this is another outlet that will truly benefit many of the creative individuals who are making lanes for themselves.
